Beijing Huilongguan Hospital is a third-level, first-class psychiatric hospital providing medical services, education and training, scientific research and community rehabilitation. It is directly affiliated with the Beijing Municipal Health Bureau. The hospital pays great attention to education and training, being guided by the principles of “prospering the hospital with science and education,” and “to teach is to learn.”
Beijing Huilonguan Hospital is a teaching hospital for Peking University and the Institute of Psychology of The Chinese Academy of Sciences. It is also the Non-administrative Affiliated Hospital of The North China Coal Medical College, and the Sino-France Friendship Hospital. Beijing Huilongguan Hospital provides clinical psychiatric education for post-graduate and doctoral students enrolled in the eight-year program from Peking University Health Science Center with full-time use of the Problem-based Learning method and for foreign students from Peking University Health Science Center using teaching methods that integrate theory and clinical practice.
The hospital is also an undergraduate and post-graduate clinical rotation base for many institutions, including the psychology department of Peking University, the law school of Peking University, the psychology institute of Beijing Normal University, the psychology department of Beijing Forestry University, Changzhi Medical College in Shangxi Province, Geely University psychology department, Huaxia Psychological Training Center, and The Beijing Sun HR Psychology Service Center. With improved teaching levels, every year the hospital receives more than 1000 students for clinical rotations and 70 professionals for advanced study.
The hospital has three clinical teaching departments and many well-trained teachers, including one professor and three associate professors from Peking University Health Science Center and 10 part-time professors and 30 part-time associate professors from the North China Coal Medical College.
Beijing Huilongguan Hospital is also a training base for psychiatry residents in Beijing. Since the standardization of psychiatric resident training in 1991, 65 residents of this hospital have passed the standard examination to become registered psychiatrists. Presently 31 residents are taking the training based on the new stipulations of The Beijing Municipal Health Bureau.
Beijing Huilongguan Hospital also provides educational training for psychiatric nursing, nursing ethics and nursing communication skills for many institutions such as The Beijing Radio and Television University, Beijing Nursing School, and the Nursing Class of Sino-Japanese Friendship Hospital. More than 20 clinical teachers provide this educational training for a total of 1400 teaching hours per year and over 500 clinical rotation visits annually. In addition, the hospital provides training for community nursing classes and develops test questions for them on behalf of the Beijing Municipal Health Bureau.
